Built and tested
Is it banned in Europe?
Check food additives against EU law and US status, with the law behind every answer.
What it does
- Paste an ingredient list, take a photo of a label, or type one ingredient or E-number.
- Every additive it finds gets an answer: YES, RESTRICTED, NO (warning label) or NO, with the EU and US status side by side.
- Each answer links to the law behind it.
- A share card image.
- A browser extension for Edge or Chrome: click “Scan this page” on a grocery site and the additives are highlighted.
Where it runs and what stays private
Everything runs on your device, and testing checks that nothing is sent anywhere. The extension reads a page only when you press Scan.
Good to know
- It reports regulatory status only, which is not proof of harm.
- “Not found in FDA inventories” does not mean banned in the US.
- Flavourings, enzymes, vitamins and processing aids fall under other EU laws, so it makes no EU claim about them.
- “Allowed in the EU” still means with conditions. Doses and food categories are not checked.
- Rules are changing quickly, so the data is rebuilt before each release.
